Jane Austen Sequels: the Novels of Abigail Reynolds
Abigail Reynolds got her start writing Pride and Prejudice sequels on the JA fan fiction boards, and with great success has branched out into publishing her work. Her stories are comprised entirely of Pride and Prejudice sequels, and considered by many as a bit on the dark side. In Jane Austen fan fiction terms, if you are an angst lover, you will find plenty of it here to love. Sort of like Mr. Darcy himself, with a cool and somewhat serious exterior, if you look a little closer you will see his unbridled passion and keen mind in her works.
Of all of the published Jane Austen sequels, of which there are now quite literally hundreds, I have been a longtime admirer of her work, and always enjoyed each of her published books as they have been released.
Although her novels are all set in the Regency period, save one, and the characters familiar to Jane Austen followers, I find the questions she addresses in the Pemberley Variations to be as interesting and engaging as the original classic novel. Surely, she has sexed the story lines up a bit to appeal to more modern tastes, but does an excellent job of exploring the passions between Darcy and Elizabeth and the roads not taken in the chosen novel.
Abigail Reynolds is the author of six wonderful Pride and Prejudice sequels: Pemberley by the Sea, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy: The Last Man in the World, Without Reserve, Impulse and Initiative, From Lambton to Longbourn and By Force of Instinct.
