Jane Austen has thrilled readers for centuries. Regina Jeffers is a teacher who uses Jane Austen’s novels in her teachings. A student once challenged her to do a sequel and, as they say, the rest is history. Regina Jeffers has now completed seven sequels.

Mrs.Jeffers keeps all the heroes and heroines of Jane Austen’s original novels on track, staying as true to their original characters as possible (with the notable exception of Vampire Darcy’s Desire). In Wayward Love, the reader gets to know and understand Captain Wentworth, the feelings he had when Anne Elliot turned down his marriage proposal the first time, through the second courtship, and into the marriage.

Captain Wentworth made very few errors in his life. He carefully thought things through and made decisions based of practical applications of reasoning and facts. He set a high standard for himself in his professional career and in his personal life. When he married Anne Elliot, a daughter of a baronet, he vowed to give her the life she should have had.

This is a love story from this very capable and intelligent officer. It tells about his feeling for Anne and the dance of courtship they both leading up to and after their marriage. It clearly shows Captain Wentworth’s determination to achieve the social status Anne was born into.

The novel starts with a war scene. Captain Wentworth’s success in the British Navy and his love of the adventures of the sea are established early. Regina Jeffers clearly explains why Wentworth rose to the rank of Captain, and how he held that position.

Through the use of intelligent, sensual writing the author reassures the reader the value of love. This novel, a Persuasion sequel, is a must read for all Jane Austen fans. While some do not seem to enjoy the large number of published Jane Austen sequels on the market today, most find the sequels to be an interesting diversion. There are many Pride and Prejudice adaptations available, but relatively few that follow the further adventures of the Anne Elliot and her dashing Captain Wentworth. This one is sure to please if you loved the original Persuasion.

Regina Jeffers is the author of eight novels: most are well done Pride and Prejudice sequels and adaptations. Her most recent novel, is entitled The Phantom of Pemberley: A Pride and Prejudice Murder Mystery, is due out later this year and will undoubtedly build on the previous success of her other 7 published works: Second Chances: the Courtship Wars, Darcy’s Temptation, Darcy’s Passions, Darcy’s Dreams, Wayward Love: Captain Frederick Wentworth’s Story, Honor and Hope, and Vampire Darcy’s Desire.
